We had Paytons 2 year checkup yesterday and the Dr. said that she is just perfect. OK well she may not of said that out loud but I know she was thinking it ... heheheh. Anyway her stats are:
Height: 33 1/2 inches - 30 percentile
Weight: 24 lbs - 15 percentile
Head: 18 3/4 - 50 percentile
So she seems to be right on track for her ... she did drop some in the height area but gain a tad in the weight ... all and all ... we are very happy with her progress.
We also discussed her achievements thus far. Payton can count to 12 without any help, she now knows the letters in her name, knows about 12 shapes, can tell the names/sounds of most animals and she is starting to listen so much better. The Dr. loved to hear all of this and said that she is really ahead of the game. I guess I never realized how ahead she was until the Dr. told me that she asks if your child can count to 3 at 3 years old. Wow ... I guess my baby is a genius!!! hehehe.
We do have a lot of problems and we are way behind when it comes to eating though. This has been such a struggle for all of us. She only eats about 8 different foods and will not even taste anything else. We have let her get away with this for a while now b/c we have been afraid her not eating at all and losing the little bit of weight she has. But now that she is 2 years old and she understands what we are saying we decided that its time for this pickiness to end. The Dr. told us that we could try it 2 different ways ... 1. bribe her to eat with her favorite treat (m&ms), let her have one for every bite of fruit or veggie that she takes or 2. stop giving her any of the only 8 foods she currently eats and eventually she will get hungry enough to eat something new.
We are still undecided on the method we are going to use but tonight I did bribe her to eat a tiny tiny bite of watermelon. It was so funny ... first it took me about 5 minutes to convince her it wasn't going to kill her and that it was worth some m&m's. Once I finally got her to take the bite ... she instantly started gagging. She sat there gagging the whole time it was in her mouth and Nick thought she was going to throw up all over the highchair. I was laughing hysterically b/c it just go to show that she is my baby. I have that same gag reflex when I even think about putting some food in my mouth that I don't like. Anyway ... SHE DID EAT THE ONE PIECE OF WATERMELON!!!!!!!! Its the most fruit we have gotten her to eat since we stopped eating baby food ... hopefully I will be able to convince her to eat more in the very near future ... Wish me luck!!!!
